PrecautionsDilute heavily before skin application.  The intensity of ylang ylang extra makes headaches likely at higher concentrations; start with very low dilution in diffusion (1 to 2 drops maximum) and increase only if well tolerated. As the heart develops, the jasmine-adjacent richness deepens, the geranyl compounds adding a spiced warmth, the narcotic weight building rather than dissipating. The rubbery-green note of para-cresyl methyl ether enters in the dry-down, the quality that makes ylang ylang irreducible and polarising in equal measure: some people find it the thing that makes the sweetness interesting rather than merely excessive; others find it the thing that tips an already demanding scent into something they cannot be near. There is a coral-pink in the heart, the colour of certain orchids at peak bloom, and a darker amber in the rubbery dry-down, the colour of resin in strong light. Nothing here is cool or spare; the palette is consistently warm, saturated, and tropical, the colours of a place where the air itself has colour.


Texture:

In the air it has the texture of humid tropical air so thick it is almost touchable: not a surface sensation but a quality of the atmosphere having more substance than neutral air allows, a density that coats rather than simply passes. The banana-sweet opening has a creaminess that registers as slightly oily, the texture of heavy cream that has not yet fully absorbed into the skin. The rubbery dry-down adds a quality of resistance, something that holds its shape when pressed against rather than yielding immediately.


Architecture:

The plan is grand and oriented toward being seen: sweeping staircases ascending to principal rooms, the architecture designed for the moment of entry and descent as much as for the spaces themselves. High ceilings with ceiling fans turning slowly, the fans moving the saturated air rather than cooling it. Deep verandas providing dramatic threshold spaces where the body is visible against the interior before it enters. Louvered windows filter the light into horizontal bands across the floor, the light itself warm and directional. The body enters through a grand door, crosses the veranda, descends or ascends the stair, becomes part of the architecture's visual intention. Ylang ylang extra runs as a dense warm current through the full volume of this space, the scent the tropical garden and the interior air share through the open louvers, so concentrated in the still air of the principal rooms that it is a condition of being inside rather than a quality added to it.
